‘Good Time Girl’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

I like this one. In my fevered imagination it’s a slow pop ballad, but these are just words. What happens to them — which is probably nothing — is up to fate. I would need a co-writer and a producer to do anything with it.

Good Time Girl

don’t need any money when I’ve got yours
give you everything you want and more
show you a good time but I’m no whore
lots of guys want my body but they ain’t you
for the right amount I’ll be
your good time girl

don’t judge me for my life
just ’cause I my rich
doesn’t mean I’m a bitch

I’ll always be your good time girl
good time girl is what I am
good time girl
good time girl
good time girl

I know you think you’ve me figured out
but you just don’t know the truth
I always fly first class
with an ass like mine what else should I expect

guys are so easy to please
flip their switch and they’re ready to twitch
but when it’s time to pay up they get all confused
what really do you have to lose
I’ll take some more booze while you think

don’t judge me for my life
just ’cause I my rich
doesn’t mean I’m a bitch

I’ll always be your good time girl
good time girl is what I am
good time girl
good time girl
good time girl

[bridge]
I’ll make my way out of this
I tell myself every day
this is no way to live
getting laid for pay

when they finally come to take me away
at least I’ll have gotten my share
a few guys will have gotten laid
but there’s no shame in being
a good time girl

don’t judge me for my life
just ’cause I my rich
doesn’t mean I’m a bitch

I’ll always be your good time girl
good time girl is what I am
good time girl
good time girl
good time girl

‘Orca’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

This is the type of song that because of the chorus might be misunderstood as fat shaming. But I think people would forgive the use of “orca” if the rest of the song is making it clear the narrator is cool with the size of the woman involved.

Orca
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

the lights finally on
the last song has been played
everyone’s drunk
we’re all looking to get laid

my friends point to you and sneer
there’s an orca looking for the kill
you should go over there act like a seal
she might make you lucky you never know

no shame in a little weight
call her an orca if you like
but she’s mine tonight
orca, orca, orca
orca, orca, orca

drunk as can be I walk over to chat
you look at me with big bright eyes
realize I’ve met my fate
in the light you’re as beautiful as can be
no need to deny that I’m ready for ride

we get to talking and what do you know
you’re as sweet as can be
just the lady for me
buy you one last drink
before you know it we heading home
the seas were rough before
but it’s smooth sailing now

no shame in a little weight
call her an orca if you like
but she’s mine tonight
orca, orca, orca
orca, orca, orca

[bridge]
weight doesn’t matter
when you’re in love
just more to see
more to hold when
things get tight

there’s no shame in a little weight
especially if that whales a mermaid
waiting for a date

‘I’ll Have What She’s Having’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

These are just words. Could go any number of different ways.

I’ll Have What She’s Having
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

eyeing you two across the bar
I stare into my drink trying not cry
you’re so far away in your happiness
she gets to look into your eyes
while I got nothing but lies
I’ll have she’s having

we had our moment it’s true
time of sin that I can’t begin about
you made me want to scream and shout
with joy with our every bout with love

I’ll have what she’s having
is all I think
I’ll have what she’s having
I cry into my drink

I’ll have what she’s having

I’m alone now it’s sad but true
my only friend now is memories of you
the two of us ruled the world it seemed
then it all came crashing down
leaving me alone and sober in the dark

drinking you in across the way
there’s so little to day to my dismay
you’re gone for good I’ve got to admit
you get up to leave with her
what’s the rush I ask no one

I’ll have what she’s having
is all I think
I’ll have what she’s having
I cry into my drink

I’ll have what she’s having
I’ll have what she’s having
I’ll have what she’s having

[bridge]
need to sober up
stop drinking in the pain
the hangovers are too rough
but give me one more drink
of what she’s having

but I know in the end I’ll win
you’re restless and can’t be pined down
she’ll find you gone soon enough
awake to an empty bed
she’ll find herself like me
asking fate for a drink

I’ll have what she’s having
I’ll have what she’s having
I’ll have what she’s having

‘Whirlwind’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

This would be a pop ballad like St. Vincent’s “New York.” But these are just words. It could be produce any number of different ways.

Whirlwind
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

we were young
they said it couldn’t last
what did they know anyway
we were wrapped up in a
whirlwind

whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’

the whirlwind took us to heaven
the whirlwind was destructive as can be
in the end its still just you and me
in my dreams if nothing else
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’

whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’

[bridge]
the whirlwind took us to heaven
the whirlwind was destructive as can be
in the end its still just you and me
in my dreams if nothing else

whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’

I look back with regret
but I also smirk
we had our fun and that was it
the best is yet to come they say
but what do they know anyway

whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’
whirlwind, whirlwind, whirlwind
where you stoppin’

‘One Last Time’ — #Lyrics To A Ballad

Since you can do anything with words as a composer, these lyrics could go any different number of directions. But the general story is something based in reality — I was almost hit by a small van in the middle of the night. I just use that as the core of ballad about a man thinking about his life as the bus whizzes towards him and ultimately past him.

One Last Time
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

can’t sleep so I take a walk
here a something headed towards straight me
all I can do is think of you
one last time

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

why does it have to end this way
without you in my arms
your love won’t join me into the void
the smell of your perfume won’t be there
as life expires in a heart beat

one last time
is it too much to ask
one last time
one last time
to get to kiss you back

[bridge]
maybe it’s all a dream
I’m about to wake
there’s nothing at stake
just a little mistake

I feel luck rush past my sin
could it be I’ll get another chance
one last time to make things right
one last time
one last time
one last time

‘Screen Time’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

I thought maybe these lyrics could go to a dance pop song like “One Kiss,” but it seems like these lyrics might go better with something slower and more melodic. But what do I know, I’m just some rando writing lyrics that will never be produced.

Screen Time
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

it’s the middle of the night
got my phone in my hand
the dark surrounds me like a glove
all I wanna do is give you
screen time

restless as can be
don’t know what I’m going to do

my screen shines in the dark
what I wouldn’t do for a vision of you
filling up the screen in front of me
screen time
screen time
screen time

I get up out of bed
scratch my head fix myself a drink
look down at my phone hoping to see you
when are you going to call I ask myself
a little screen time would be great

you need to filter to make me happy
all I need is your grin shining back at me
would make everything alright in my heart
the darkness would subside with a little
screen time

restless as can be
don’t know what I’m going to do

my screen shines in the dark
what I wouldn’t do for a vision of you
filling up the screen in front of me
screen time
screen time
screen time

[bridge]
my batteries running low
but I’m all charged up
one call from you and I’m on my way
spend rest of the night with you

shouldn’t be this difficult
for a little screen time
what do I have to do
to hear from you

restless as can be
don’t know what I’m going to do

my screen shines in the dark
what I wouldn’t do for a vision of you
filling up the screen in front of me
screen time
screen time
screen time

‘My Little Wood Nymph’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

No one listens to me. I like this one, though. I have no beat. It’s just a rough draft and I’d need a co-writer and a producer to make it an actual song.

My Little Wood Nymph
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

it was long ago and far away
we lay in bed kissing now and then
I wondered aloud if you were real
you seemed like a figment of my imagination

you were my little wood nymph
you were my little wood nymph
your magic temps me still
you were my little wood nymph

we held hands under the summer sun
it was just we two on the run
nothing could separate us
your smile was enough to make me die
but in the end it was all just a lie

you were my little wood nymph
you were my little wood nymph
your magic temps me still
you were my little wood nymph

[bridge]
you flew away way too young
never got my chance to hear your voice
one last time before all was done
now you’re just a memory of when I was young

you were my little wood nymph
you were my little wood nymph
your magic temps me still
you were my little wood nymph

‘This Is Fine’ — #Lyrics To A Pop Ballad

This is based on the “This is fine” meme. No beat. Just a concept.

This Is Fine
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

we went so well together
but it was all a bunch of lies
leather and lace was our thing
but in the end there was still a sting
the flames of desire are gone
but
this is fine

thought you were the one
finally had sadness on the run

yet now all I do is fret
as fire rages around me
stare out into space and reflect
this is fine
this is fine
this is fine

now all I’ve got is my ire
the wish you may never have another kiss
feel a rush in my face
whenever someone mentions your name
who’s to blame it’s all a shame

wonder where you are now
what woman you’re fooling
if she’s happy as I once was
the truth will come crashing down on her
she’ll find herself in my place
thinking
this is fine

thought you were the one
finally had sadness on the run

yet now all I do is fret
as fire rages around me
stare out into space and reflect
this is fine
this is fine
this is fine

[bridge]
you were mine
we ruled the world together
I felt light as a feather
where do that go
I wanna know

love is as powerful they come
when it’s gone there’s no going back
as the burning house comes crashing down
I drink my coffee and reflect
this is fine, this is fine, this is fine
this is fine, this is fine, this is fine

‘Brooklyn’ — Lyrics To A Woke Folk-Pop Ballad

I saw a picture of Eve Peyser of Vice Magazine in her new apartment on Twitter and she said she fits perfectly in a “strange small room” perfectly. Her obvious beauty and wit has inspired me yet again and given that I am _assuming_ that the apartment is in Brooklyn, I decided to write a poem-meant-to-be-sung about the picture. Given that I have Trumplandia on the brain, it’s “woke” as well. But this is meant to be a homage to Simon & Garfunkel’s “America.” Or that song “Budapest.” It’s supposed to tell a story about a place. That’s the goal, at least. This is, as always a first draft. Like “America,” there’s no traditional chorus. Your vocalist would have to figure out where the emphasis would be.

Brooklyn
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

she fits in a strange small room
in her new Brooklyn apartment
perfectly
her broad smile belies
the reign of the mad king
the one we all think about and wince
though for a moment she’s at peace

Brooklyn is the center of it all
her new apartment with its strange small room
the one she fits in so well
leaves us all to pause
to dwell on the meaning of it all

the streets of Brooklyn hum
with the busy people brooding on vice and sin
their voices can be heard to Montreal
maybe in French if they have the gaul

Eve with the raven hair
with her lovely countenance
makes Helen green with envy
it all happens in her new apartment
it all happens in her new apartment
it all happens in her new apartment
the one with the strange small room

‘Fake News’ — Lyrics To A Woke Country Pop Ballad

This would be a lot like Little Big Town’s Girl Crush. That’s my aim at least. And, to some extent, these lyrics are structured like that song. The music to this would be something really slow. The lyrics are menat to be something that isn’t quite what you expect. This is very much a first draft, so take that into consideration. I only even write this because I like the concept and I find it relaxing to tell stories in verse.

Fake News
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner
@bumgarls
please give credit if you produce or perform

fake news is all ’round town
fake news is saying you left me for good
don’t believe it for one sec
you been lying under oath to those who matter most

[chorus]
fake news is tearing me apart
shouldn’t be feeling this way but I am
I know the truth
I know you ain’t rush’n to betray me
that’s just fake news
that’s just fake news

these are trying times I admit
seems like there’s no one to trust
lots of people got rhymes that make no sense
wish we could settle down and chat
get everything off our chest

[chorus]
fake news is tearing me apart
shouldn’t be feeling this way but I am
I know the truth
I know you ain’t rush’n to betray me
that’s just fake news
that’s just fake news

[bridge]
pardon me if I ask
for a little respect
wish you’d tell the facts
with no spin at all

but what happens next
is anyone’s guess
can’t believe you’d break your oath
that must be fake news
that must be fake news
that must be fake news
