They say you take yourself wherever you go and that’s where I am now. I’m not changing shit, no matter I keep hearing this or that Absolute Law of Nature when it comes to how to get a literary agent.
It’s just too late. Judge me on my art, not on if I’m a drunk crank. (Which, all things considered, I may be.)
I believe I’ve come up with a pretty standard mystery-thriller in the milieu of Stieg Larsson’s original work and all I need is someone, anyone, to give me a chance. As I begin to careen into the querying process that will begin, probably, at the beginning of next year, I have to prepare myself for the inevitable — literary agents discovering this blog when they do due diligence on me.
I try to be the best person I can be. But I do like to drink –and write while drunk — so I could see how maybe the more snooty ones might blanch at some of my posts on the blog. I already have a severe problem with manuscript consultants refusing to help me because they won’t take me seriously.
It definitely is going to be interesting to see what happens. Maybe I’m over thinking things — and maybe I’m not. It could be that I’m just too much of a crank for ANYONE to take me seriously enough to risk anything on me, no matter how will the actual end product of my novel may be.
But I can honestly say I’ve really enjoyed working on this novel and look forward to writing the other five novels in the project.
