I started my this six novel project a number of years ago because MAGA enraged me so much that I needed some sort of creative outlet for my rage. Well, now that the second draft of my first novel is pretty stable, I’ve decided to begin to work on a scifi novel that addresses global climate change directly.
I’ve come up with a pretty unique hot take on the issue and I also get to rant about MAGA via subtext. With this second novel, I’m going to do a quick and dirty first draft. The key reason why I’ve decided to start this second track is now that I am beginning to approach the stage in attempting to get this novel traditionally published where things are somewhat out of my control, I want a backup.
That and the fact that my first novel definitely seems like it’s going to blow past the 100,000 word sweetspot. So, the thinking goes, if I have a novel that is well within the 100,000 sweetspot, I might be able to sell it FIRST, then leverage selling THAT novel to sell the thriller novel I’ve been working on all this time.
I suppose I’m being very delusional with such thinking, but that’s kind of my thing, being delusional. Anyway, I think I’ve figured out how I’m going to pull this off. I’m just going to do a quick and dirty outline for this global climate change scifi novel and then start writing as quickly as possible to write an equally quick and dirty first draft of the novel.
