As I’ve said, I’m well aware that dance songs usually start with a beat first, but I don’t have any beats, so I working backwards. And, really, this is more just a rough sketch of a concept than a finished song. I would need a co-writer and a producer to make these lyrics anything resembling an actual song. The concept is a woman has her eye on a guy and she’s determined to meet him on the subway ride to work.
The Vision Thing
lyrics by Shelton Bumgarner

please give credit if you produce or perform
woke up alone
gave the dog a bone
brushed my hair
ate my breakfast and made my way
to my appointed moment
your schedule is the back of my hand
today fate will be made
it’s the vision thing
you think I’m an extra in your movie
but today I’m going to be a star
it’s the vision thing
if a girl’s going to have ring
she has to have a vision thing
the vision thing
the vision thing
the vision thing
destiny is calling can you hear her
she’s every girl’s best friend
you don’t stand a chance I fear
today’s the day
my vision will come true
there’s not much you can do
don’t you worry don’t you fret
I won’t hurt you quite yet
grit my teeth knowing I’m right
I’ll be on your arm tonight
we’re set to be in love
’cause of random fate
I can’t help it needs a shove
you think I’m an extra in your movie
but today I’m going to be a star
it’s the vision thing
if a girl’s going to have ring
she has to have a vision thing
the vision thing
the vision thing
the vision thing
[bridge]
already picking out the drapes
to humble abode
we’ll start a little family
with a cute cat to hold
there you are on the subway car
holding your coffee and tapping your pin
you’re going to bump into me before
this ride is over just you bet
it’s all because of
the vision thing
the vision thing
the vision thing
