Jesus Christ, Where Is All The Intra-Band Fucking In ‘Daisy Jones & The Six?’

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

As someone who is fairly well versed in how bonkers the production of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors album was, I am very unhappy with Daisy Jones & The Six. I went into the series expecting a fuck fest and I got…meh.

At the center of the Daisy Jones & The Six story is the sexual tension between Daisy Jones and Billy Dunn. They kiss…and that’s it? Really? Where’s all the fucking?

The absence of sex makes me long for a Fleetwood Mac biopic. At least, then, we would get to see some fucking bonkers sexual antics. It’s very frustrating that at the center of the entire story is a rather chaise relationship between two people. I would much rather see a fuck fest.

It seems like the producers of Daisy Jones & The Six choked for some reason. I’m currently in the process of reading the book and…come on…the center of the story is a relationship between two people who don’t ultimately fuck? Come on!

It’s all very curious.

You have the sex-charged 70s to use as your pallet and…you come up with this? What the what? It’s all very curious.

Camila Morrone Is My Celebrity Crush Of The Moment

by Shelt Garner

Having watched Daisy Jone & The Six, I find myself thinking of a high-end woman that a poor shlub like me can one day aspire to finding a woman of equal merit: Camila Morrone

She was famously Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriend before she was aged out by turning 25. All I can say is — she’s smoking hot. She’s got “it” whatever “it” is and it is a testament to how Leo has Goddamn great taste in women that he would date her for as long as he did.

Ms. Morrone has a lot of stage presence and she’s a really good actress. I’m smitten in a celebrity crush kind of way. She’s easy on the eyes and has a luminescent personality. She seems like the kind of woman a wealthy, powerful man would be proud to have on his arm as they walked into a cocktail party.

I fear I sound like Don Draper.

I suppose, in a sense, Ms. Morrone is aspirational for drunk losers such as myself. But, who knows, maybe the novel I’m working on may be a breakout hit.

Wink.

Even though she’s been aged out for Leo — she IS still very, very young. I feel like a dirty old man just talking about her.

Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer DeSantis Will Be The Canary In The Coalmine During A Possible 2024 Secession Crisis

by sheltgarner
@sheltgarner

The thing about Ron “Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer” DeSantis is but for malignant ding-dong Trump, he would be elected in 2024 and become America’s Putin. See exhibit one:

Add to this the fact that Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer is asking for millions to start his own private army at his beck and call and it definitely seems that really the only thing that stands in the way to us waking up 20 years from now wondering why DeSantis is demanding we free Canada from the “woke cancel culture mob” is, well, Trump.

But there is another way to look at things.

I still believe that if there is going to be a National Divorce, it will be when Blues refuse to bend a knee to Trump’s autocratic MAGA Nazi fascism. And, yet, I suppose it’s possible that some sort of combination of events might conspire to make it Red states, not Blue states, who decide to leave.

And if that it happen, then the issue of what would people like DeSantis handle any sort of Red secession crisis. If DeSantis has lost the GQP nomination to Trump, he will be a very establishment governor in a Red state, so if something happens and Texas and, say, South Carolina call up secessionist conventions, what DeSantis thinks about it all will hold a lot of weight.

I think, in general, if DeSantis sensed that Red states were serious about leaving the Union, he would jump in head first to joining any sort of neo-Confederate States of America.

But, like I said, I think if a secession crisis happens, it will be Blues to do it. And, also, here is another other datapoint to mull.

Publish or Perish

@sheltgarner

I am AGAIN beginning to make my way through the second draft of the novel. I STILL aim to wrap this process up no later than the end of spring. But I really need to stop being such a fucking perfectionist.

I have to realize that some of the issues with this thing won’t be addressed by me, but, rather Beta Readers and maybe a professional editor I might hire. But the clock is ticking.

If I don’t stop fucking around, it will be next year before I start the beta reader process and with the looming Fourth Turning approaching in late 2024, early 2025, I don’t want to do all this work with the novel only to it all come crashing down because we have a civil war.

Anyway. I need to be methodical about this process, but I can’t just spend months making sure that the beginning of the novel is absolutely right. I have to allow myself to “give up” and just get something, anything done that completes my vision for this novel and the story I hope to tell.

That’s the dream, at least.

I still hope to wrap this second draft up by no later than the end of spring in June.

Something Is Up With The Special Counsel Investigation

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

It definitely seems as though it’s at least possible that it could be Jack Smith, not Bragg in NYC, who drops the first bomb on Trumplandia by indicting Trump. I only say this because whatever the fuck has been learned about Trump lying to his lawyers is so explosive that it has zoomed through the usually glacial judicial system.

What’s Jack Smith up to?

It’s all very curious.

I thought maybe Trump somehow recorded confessing to, like, I dunno, treason or something. And, yet, given that ding-dong Trump didn’t appeal his loss against Jack Smith to SCOTUS….I’m not as confident enough in that scenario to even speculate on it.

But whatever it is, it’s big.

It might be that Trump, because he’s very, very stupid, was recorded by his lawyer being pretty brazen about some sort of illegal activity. It might even be big enough that Trump gets indicted on Federal charges stemming from his theft of secret documents before NYC’s Bragg gets around to indicting him for the Stormy Daniels pay off.

Or not. Who kknows.

But I do think we need to keep an eye on Trump’s growing hysteria over his potential indictment(s). The man is crazed. It is a testament to how blase America remains that he hasn’t managed to get some of his supporters to take him up on his deranged calls for violence.

Let’s hope it stays that way.

The Fusion Of AI & AR Will Spark A $1 Trillion Service Industry

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

While we may have to suffer through a fucking “Fourth Turning” first, I do believe once that’s all sorted out that Augmented Reality paired with Artificial Intelligence with create exponential growth.

Of course, this exponential growth will happen in the context of a Petite Singularity where there may be a dwindling number of jobs for humans to actually work. It could be that we’ll have a “Her” future in the context of having a Her-like AI walk us through our AR-lives as we all sit around trying to write the Great American Novel because we’re all living off UBI.

Again, the issue for me is there is a real possibility that the Western world may be about to “go through some things” starting in late 2024, early 2025. It could be that “those things” are the United States not having a civil war, but rather becoming an inward-looking America First autocracy. That, in turn will spark WW3 that will leave about 1 billion people dead.

And, if you wanted to get all Black Mirror about it, it could be that we’ll all wake up one day, put on our AR/AI vizors and walk around the world being berated by an AI demanding we not have “woke” thoughts.

Yikes.

So, I don’t know the specifics of how this will all sort itself out, but I do know that we’re in for some pretty significant technology-driven cultural and political changes very, very soon.

‘Not Great, Bob’ — Civil War Or Autocracy Starting In Late 2024, Early 2025 Continues To Loom

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

The United States continues to cleve into two nations, one Red, one Blue. And, as I keep saying, either we become all Red (autocracy) or we have a National Divorce caused by Blues which would precipitate a civil war of some sort. As proof of this looming catastrophe, just look at this:

That someone would even think this type of bullshit up is a ping from a very, very dark future. When not even fucking libraries are spared from cleving into Red and Blue, yikes.

The worst part of all of this is I struggle, in real terms, to figure out why it’s happening so fast. But it is. There is a lot more cultural and political rot eating away at America’s stability than you might think.

And it’s going to reach a crescendo in late 2024, early 2025 as part of the 2024 presidential cycle. There are a lot — a lot — of nightmare scenarios that one might think up.

But at the moment, I think, in general, what happens is A Republican wins in 2024 and America slips peacefully into autocracy. There will be a lot of gnashing of teeth on the part of Blues, but in the end, all that will happen is about 1 million (at least) smug Twitter liberals will leave the country and setup shop in various beautiful, exotic locales where they will produce podcasts that Poors like me will have to use VPN to listen to.

Malignant Ding-Dong Trump Never Met A Form Of Stochastic Terrorism He Didn’t Like

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

I don’t know what to tell you, folks. Trump continues to be a fascist thug as he grows more and more hysterical over the prospect of being indicted in New York City. The latest evidence of this can be seen below.

The thing about Trump is he is such a lazy moron that the things that he can get what he wants — his base to start political violence — by just being hysterical and posting shit like the above photo. He believes this because he’s often gotten a lot of what he wanted otherwise because of the political fear the system has in regards to him.

But as history will attest — being a Great Man of history is hard work and requires a level of cognitive ability that Trump simply doesn’t have. He’s just an avatar for the structural problems in the United States at the moment so, to date, he’s not really had to do much work.

The question is, of course, what happens when the conditions are right for another January 6th type situation. Then what. I’ve given it some thought and I fear even if my absolute worst fear happened — a series of coordinated attacks around the country with AR-15 armed MAGA psychopaths — that that would still not be enough to break the Trump fever.

Even if this happened and there was ABSOLUTE PROOF that it was done by MAGA in an effort to scare the authorities into not doing anything about Trump, the same dynamic as January 6th would happen.

The center-Left would freak out and think, “Well, THIS will be the thing that ends MAGA.” Meanwhile, the center-Right would, after a few days of angst, embrace MAGA even tighter and think up whatever they had to in an effort to gaslight those 100,000 voters across five swing states that the whole thing was some sort of Deep State false flag operation.

I mean, we all saw exactly what happened on January 6th and the Republican Party has come to believe that either they are all patriots or members of a false flag operation, depending on what helps them win an argument with people like me.

So, as I keep saying — it’s autocracy or civil war starting in late 2024, early 2025.

‘Acceptance’

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

The only way I’m going to finish this novel is to accept that I’m neither Stieg Larsson nor Gillian Flynn. I can aspire to write as well as they do, but I have my own style and my own limitations.

If I keep comparing myself to them, I’m never going to be satisfied with this novel. Remember, the old quip is, “No novel is ever finished, only abandoned.” So, I have to be prepared to finish (or abandon) this novel once I tell the story I want to tell.

I’m going over the second draft now and I’m really worried that there isn’t enough character development. I’m also worried that things are moving too fast in some places.

But, I think, the key thing is to just finish something, anything and then let the Beta Reader process take over. And I hope to pay an editor to stress test the story at some point, as well.

It’s tough, though. Things have gotten so much better with this story, that I want to keep improving the story until I can look at feel it compares favorably to professional, published authors that I respect.

And, yet, I also realize I’m not going to live forever.

Curious Developments In The Special Counsel Fight

by Shelt Garner
@sheltgarner

Well, it definitely looks as though all my idle speculation about Trump being caught red handed babbling about treason was just that — baseless speculation. I say this because — at the moment at least — Trump isn’t going to appeal his recent legal defeat surrounding the situation.

If there was a record of him being treasonous, he probably would fight it a lot harder.

But something curious continues to swirl around Trump’s legal fight with Jack Smith. Apparently, whatever it is that it being fought over regards Trump lying to his lawyers about him having more secret documents after he told the Feds he had handed over all of them.

And, yet, something about that doesn’t make sense. How would the Feds KNOW that Trump lied to his lawyers other than they found more documents after he said it. There is something about all of this that doesn’t add up.

All I know is, the last time I saw this kind curious shadow boxing was the first reports about Trump’s “perfect call” with the president of Ukraine. Whatever is going on, it’s Big. Really big.

I don’t know. I just don’t know. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough.
